An individual was able to gain access to one or more computers within St. Rose Hospital and then get into confidential files contained within that computer. The internal computers in the hospital are safeguarded, but the user was able to bypass some of the protections to get into protected files. During the attack, some private information was accessed and could have been copied for unauthorized use.
The data breach occurred on November 29 but wasn't detected until December 29, 2022. During that month, the user may have been able to continually access personal documents and files and access private data to conduct credit and financial attacks on the individuals involved.
The data breach may have impacted current employees of St. Rose Hospital, and current and past patients of the hospital. If you received any notifications of the breach, there's a chance you were exposed by the breach and you should take immediate action to protect yourself.
There isn't an official count of the files from within St. Rose Hospital that were impacted due to this breach. We suspect that dozens of files were accessed during the attacks and that hundreds of individuals may have been exposed. If you received a notice from the hospital you may have been exposed. Use the theft protection services provided by the hospital to obtain Experian credit monitoring for 12 months for free.
