This week, we noticed that data breach attackers targeted a substantial number of hospitals. north Carolina patients are being impacted the most currently. Along with health groups like Atrium and Novant Health, nonprofit Save the Children was hit by a breach, as was the TransUnion credit bureau and Caesars Entertainment. A huge number of people were impacted by this breach between these different major organizations. Learn details about each of the data breaches below, and find out if you were involved in any.
Caesars Entertainment
In September, Caesars Entertainment, the casino empire, had its loyalty program breached by hackers. When the loyalty program was breached, significant data was lost. Information such as Driver's License number, Social Security number, home address, phone number, full name, and more was also lost. The breach is a major issue for fans of Caesars, but it's likely true that you can get identity theft monitoring services from the company in response to the breach.
North Carolina Hospitals
Countless hospitals throughout North Carolina suffered from a data breach near the end of May. This breach by the C10p ransomware gang likely led to the loss of medical and healthcare-related information, but probably not Social Security numbers. Still, the losses were significant, and North Carolina patients may have to look elsewhere for their healthcare.
Save the Children
Save the Children is a worldwide organization dedicated to caring for children going through hardship. Save the Children was targeted specifically by the hacker group BrianLian in an effort to generate cash for the organization. The company was told to pay a ransom to regain any stolen information. Personal data was taken from beneficiaries working with the organization, and the breach complicates most things.
TransUnion
The TransUnion credit monitoring service also suffered from a pretty serious data breach. The data taken from this service includes in-depth details such as credit scores, home address, full name, credit services you receive, and much more. With such.a significant problem, you could qualify for credit monitoring services from the organization. We're still waiting to learn all the details of the breach, but we know that thousands were involved, and they could cost some people significant losses. More information will be released about the specific victims in the future. If your data was involved, you should expect to receive a personalized letter from TransUnion explaining the problem to you.
Novant and Atrium Health
As related to the MOVEit data breach, both Novant and Atrium Health suffered from exposed information and significant data losses. These organizations put patients at countless hospitals at risk and could put users in a tough position. If you attend medical facilities within North Carolina and surrounding states, you may be at risk from these breaches. They were caused by the C10P ransomware gang as well as additional hacker groups. Losses of data, including health diagnoses, insurance information, personal information, and more are likely involved. We don't know if Social Security numbers and other more significant pieces of data were also included in this. Data losses have been serious, but it's likely that credit monitoring will be offered to these healthcare data victims.
