Brightline is a major pediatric mental health service that offers virtual mental health care for teens, children, and families. The company suffered from a data breach that put an extensive amount of patient data at risk online. The breach could lead to phishing or identity theft issues and is a major concern.
This Brightline data breach occurred because the company relies on Fortra GoAnywhere file transfer solutions to send data back and forth. This solution recently suffered from serious data attacks from the Clop ransomware gang. Brightline has suffered from those attacks.
GoAnywhere began getting hit by attacks on January 18, 2023, but Brightline wasn't listed as one of the involved companies until after March 16, 2023. At that point, more than 780,000 patients were exposed to the attack.
This Brightline breach impacts hundreds of thousands of Brightline customers. If you were a patient of the company, or you have a loved one that works with the organization, you are at risk of a serious data breach.
We have no way of knowing how many Brightline documents and files were involved in this breach. We only know that hundreds of thousands of patients were impacted. Anyone identified as a potential victim gets access to identity theft protection services paid for by Brightline for 24 months of protection.
