Essen Health Care is a medical organization spread across 300 providers throughout Westchester County, New York City, and Staten Island. The company provides primary and urgent care services as well as many specialty services like cardiology, dermatology, orthopedic surgery, allergy services, and others. This medical company safeguards a massive amount of data, and all that data is at risk now that hackers have breached Essen.
The experts studying the Essen Health Care breach don't know the specifics, but they do know attackers broke into the file network by way of a phishing attack or a network vulnerability. Once inside the network, the attackers began making copies of medical and personal data for later use. The data could be used for identity theft attacks and for phishing attacks.
The Essen Care breach began on March 14 and persisted until March 22, 2023. It wasn't until May 16, 2023, that a full investigation was completed, and the gathered data was released in this notice of breach.
This data breach is most likely to impact Essen Care patients and some of the organization's employees.
There isn't an Essen file count, but we suspect thousands of documents were taken during the several days the servers were breached.
