Prospect Medical Holdings is a massive company that oversees 16 separate hospitals throughout Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, California, and more. Between all the different hospitals managed by this one company, countless patients entrust their personal and medical information with the corporation. A data breach at Prospect Medical Holdings recently put all this data at risk.
While we have no clue how the hacker gang was able to get into Prospect Medical Holdings, we know that a group of attackers breached the network and stole a huge amount of information around August 3, 2023. At that time the gang captured millions of files and stored all the data outside of the network for misuse.
On August 3, 2023, it's believed the breach occurred. This is the date that the gang claims to have infiltrated the company's file stores and started copying documents out. PMH has since secured its network and restored most patient records using paper backups, but work is still being performed to regain the network.
This data breach impacts patients at each of the 16 hospitals under Prospect Medical Holdings as well as staff members at those facilities and the company itself. Vast amounts of information were stolen, and that data will likely be abused. If you believe your data was included in all the information stolen, it's essential that you protect your information and monitor your credit.
We don't have a specific file count, but the gang announced it gathered 1TB of company documents and another 1.3TB worth of SQL database files when it hacked into the databases. These file stores could house massive amounts of harmful information.
